My really good friend Chuck, sent me this. I think it's worth sharing!
STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.
My goodfriend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously.
Please read: STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 p.m. Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this... A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR .

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke . Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S * Ask the individual to SMILE. T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today) R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.If he or she has trouble withANY ONE of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe thesymptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke. A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
I do believe I've lived 8 of my 9 lives. I just might have learned a thing or two as I was paying close attention.
I do aspire to know it all but I've never claimed to know it all. I do believe I might know a little about this-n-that...that is...if you're listening?

Aunt B embraces Diversity. I have little tolerance for those who are not tolerant, (a double negative, eh?)especially when it comes to what you do not understand. I try to live by the principle of do to others, only what I want done to myself. If you can adopt this principle in your life, you are on the road to becoming a better person. This is actually, what the secret to life is all about.
Ask Aunt B is extremely patient and understanding. Go ahead, try me? Nothing is Taboo, no subject matter will be turned away. You can not shock me and nothing is too petty. If you have a need, I will try to help. I will do my best to answer you as soon as possible and in the order I have received your letter. If you ask me a question, send me an email, I would ask for your feedback.

Two of my own Grandbabies have Cystic Fibrosis. My son and myself are carriers. Both of these children are by different Mothers, from different States, hundreds of miles apart. What are the odds? Quite often we don't choose to get involved until someone we love is affected. This was true for me as well. It occurs to me that you and I take breathing for granted. These children drown in their own secretions. They must have meds and treatment, expensive treatment, all the days of their lives. Thank God that the life expectancy of these children has been extended due to treatments. These treatments come from Research. You can help this funding by giving or shopping the 65 Roses site. It's not giving and getting nothing. Your purchase is worth while and the money goes to funding Research for this tragic disease. I ask you to give. Maybe it might extend the life of my very own Grandchildren?

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take
but by the moments that take our breath away.
